It is fitting that when standing at the front of Parliament House one sees a view over the Lake to the Australian War Memorial. Even though there weren't many clouds, this sunset brought spectacular colours to Canberra's wintery sky.

Gibraltar Falls is a beautiful waterfall near Canberra in the Namadgi National Park. Namadgi makes up almost half of the total land of the Australian Capital Territory, and is a great national park with many great hikes, stunning scenery and some great dark skies for nightscapes.

Canberra can be a wonderful place for epic sunsets, and this was no exception. Captured down by Lake Burley Griffin, on the peninsula near the National Museum of Australia, the redness of the sky and the smoothness of the water made for an enjoyable shoot.

Canberra's Mount Ainsley is a wonderful spot for great cityscapes over Australia's national capital. It is always a good place to take in a sunset over the city centre (to the right of the photo), or over Parliament House (across the bridge to the left). With poor weather forecasts I wasn't confident the sunset would be great photographically, but decided to take a look anyway. I would very pleased that I did, with the cloudy sky giving way to a magnificent sunset over the Brindabella ranges. This will be the first shot I am sharing created on my mew Fuji X-T3, and I am pleased with the results.

SHot from the Parliamentary Triangle, in the National Rose Garden in front of the Old Parliament House. The reverse vista of a more typical Canberrra sunset scene.

A sunrise image captured from Mt Ainslie of Australia's Old and New Parliament Houses in Canberra. On this morning I went hunting for a spot to capture low fog over Canberra from above. Didn't quite get what I was looking for, but was happy with the golden hour light with the little bit of wispy cloud over the capital.

Canberra has some amazing sunsets, and this view of Telstra Tower with the Brindabella Ranges in the background provided a wonderfully orange sky.Captured from Mt Ainslie, the setting sun to the side of the scene cast golden rays across the tower.

Australia’s capital city, Canberra, is colloquially known as the Bush Capital. Not only is it an inland capital in a land famously girt by sea, Canberra is also surrounded by the rugged bushland the country is known for. Much of that bushland weaves its way in from the fringes of the city right to its centre. This image was created on a hike known as Frost Hollow to Forest in the Aranda Bushland, about 6km from Canberra’s CBD, which lies just the other side of Black Mountain, seen in the image.

A lovely sunset at the National Carillion in Canberra, with the iconic Telstra Tower ever prominent in the capital's skyline.

This oft-photographed tree lies on the southern outskirts of Canberra. With the city lights behind you, and a clear view to the south, this can be a great spot for shooting the Milky Way, star trails and perhaps aurora australis.
